The true beauty of British springtime

The true beauty of British springtime: Thousands of bluebells flower early deep in the woods

These stunning images of thousands of bluebells in the wild show the beauty of British springtime at its very best.

The striking blue flowers, pictured deep in Micheldever Wood near Basingstoke, look like something from a fairy tale.

The recent warm weather has caused the plants to flower earlier than usual - creating this incredible scene.

Morning has broken! Photographer Anthony Spencer captured this stunning image shortly after dawn - as the mist was still clearing from Micheldever Wood near Basingstoke in Hampshire

As the sun rises on a perfect Easter morning, the sunlight flickers through the trees to create a magical scene.

Photographer Anthony Spencer captured one of the stunning images shortly after dawn - as the mist was still clearing from the wood.

Anthony had been waiting for the Bluebells to come into full flower, to capture the image, for weeks.

Picture perfect: Two visitors to Micheldever Wood stop to capture the breathtaking scene of a carpet of thousands of bluebells. The delicate blue plants have flowered early this year due to the unusually warm weather

Enjoy not destroy: Visitors to Micheldever Wood have been enjoying the stunning blue flowers, but are encouraged not to pick them or take them home. In the UK, the common Bluebell is a protected species

And he spent days rising in the early hours of the morning to get to the woods to get the picture at exactly the right time.

He said: 'The area where the Bluebells are is deep in the middle of the woods.

'There must be hardly anyone who has been there to see how beautiful they are.

Fairy tale: Eight-year-old Daisy Dennis runs through a seemingly endless bluebell glade. The beautiful blooms have been captivating visitors to the woods in Hampshire after flowering early due to the mild spring weather

'I wanted to let people see the incredible beauty of the flowers.'

In the UK, the common Bluebell is a protected species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

Landowners are prohibited from removing common Bluebells on their land for sale, and it is a criminal offence to remove the bulbs of wild common Bluebells.

The Worlds First Dynamic Architecture

Rotating Skyscraper Has Wind Turbine Power

The Dynamic Architecture building, which will be constantly in motion changing its shape, will be able to generate electric energy for itself as well as for other buildings. Forty-eight wind turbines fitted between each rotating floors as well as the solar panels positioned on the roof of the building will produce energy from wind and the sunlight, with no risk of pollution. The total energy produced by this inbuilt ‘powerhouse’ every year will be worth approximately seven million dollars.

Each turbine can produce 0.3 megawatt of electricity, compared to 1-1.5 megawatt generated by a normal vertical turbine (windmill). Considering that Dubai gets 4,000 wind hours annually, the turbines incorporated into the building can generate 1,200,000 kilowatt-hour of energy.

As average annual power consumption of a family is estimated to be 24,000 kilowatt-hour, each turbine can supply energy for about 50 families. The Dynamic Architecture tower in Dubai will be having 200 apartments and hence four turbines can take care of their energy needs. The surplus clean energy produced by the remaining 44 turbines can light up the neighborhood of the building.

For an overview of the rotating skyscraper and a quick look at the dynamic architecture that underlies it, take a look at this video.

However, taking into consideration that the average wind speed in Dubai is of only 16 km/h the architects may need to double the number of turbines to light up the building to eight. Still there will be 40 free turbines, good enough to supply power for five skyscrapers of the same size.

The horizontal turbines of the Dynamic Architecture building are simply inserted between the floors, practically invisible. They neither need a pole nor a concrete foundation. In addition, they are at zero distance from the consumer, which makes maintenance easier.

The modern design of the building and the carbon fiber special shape of the wings take care of the acoustics issues. Producing that much electric energy without any implication on the aesthetic aspect of the building is a revolutionary step in tapping alternative energy sources. Furthermore, this energy will have a positive impact on the environment and economy.

Mosha The Elephant

She was rescued when she was seven-months-old and brought to the Friends of the Asian Elephant hospital where she became the first elephant in the world to be fitted with an artificial leg in 2007.

Now aged five, Mosha is growing at such a rate she has now been fitted with a second prosthetic leg.

Her home in the tropical jungle of northern Thailand, near the Cambodian border, is an orphanage for elephants.

Stumbling around on three limbs at the world's first elephant hospital, she refused to mix with other elephants and shunned food.

Doctors had feared the worst until she had a chance meeting with Dr. Therdchai Jivacate, who runs a foundation for human amputees.

Jivacate knew that Mosha would not survive as she grew heavier with age.

"When she cannot walk, she is going to die," he said.

Jivacate's foundation has made prosthetic limbs for over 16,000 humans. But it had never fitted an elephant until Mosha caught Jivacate's eye.

Fashioned out of plastic, sawdust and metal, doctors at his Prostheses Foundation successfully fitted an artificial leg for Mosha sturdy enough to carry her weight.

One of many patients treated at the unique £1m animal hospital, with fellow elephants suffering infections, broken bones and knife wounds, Mosha soon became the most famous.

Almost a year after her operation, Mosha used to eat 200 pounds of food a day and was growing so fast that doctors  fitted her with a second, larger prosthesis.

After her daily exercises, Mosha takes a nap. The prosthesis is only removed when she sleeps.

The friendliest whales in the world

The friendliest whales in the world: grey whales in Mexico

Tourists are greeted by a friendly grey whale whilst whale watching in San Ignacio Lagoon, Mexico

These wildlife enthusiasts were shown the impressive beasts by famous zoologist and BBC presenter Mark Carwardine who has been visiting the area for over 25-years.

Mark Carwardine said: "To have a huge, friendly whale willingly approach your boat and look you straight in the eye is without doubt one of the most extraordinary experiences on the planet."

"Sometimes they even let people rub their huge tongues or kiss them on the top of the head," said Mark, who co-presented the BBC 2 series Last Chance to See with Stephen Fry.

Mark is passionate about whale conservation and sees whale watching as an important way of increasing awareness and appreciation of these beautiful animals.

Among the many other species that come close are blue whales, and humpback whales, which often roll on their sides to look up at the passengers.

These whales begin their journey from the Bering Sea in the Arctic making it a 20,000km round trip, one of the longest migrations undertaken by any mammal. They set off down the Pacific coast in December and don't eat again until they return to their northern feeding grounds some five months later.

MOM HAPPY HER 10-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER GAVE BIRTH

A 10-year-old girl gave birth to a newborn in Spain and her mother doesn't understand why the world is fussing about it.

The baby was born last week in the city of Jerez de la Frontera whose parents, a 10-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy, are of Romanian origin. According to Spanish newspapers, the 10-year-old mother moved to Spain three weeks ago before giving birth in a public hospital last week.

Medical staffers who treated the girl said they were told by her mother that giving birth at such a young age is common in their country.

Later it was reported that the girl and her mother are Romanian Gypsies, or Roma, whose customs allow girls to marry young even though that's against the law in Romania.

"That's the way we get married," the girl's mother told reporters Tuesday outside their apartment building.

The mother also said her daughter and her new grandchild will remain in Spain because the relationship with the child's father, a 13-year-old boy, has ended. He currently lives in Romania.

Spanish social welfare authorities are determining whether the family can provide for the newborn baby.

Top Youngest Mothers In History:

This 10-year-old mom may be a shocker, but she isn't the youngest mother recorded in history. Check out Ezinemark's list of the youngest mothers in history:

Lina Medina, age 5

Lina Medina, is the youngest confirmed mother in medical history, who was born on September 27, 1933 in the small village of Paurange and was only 5 years 8 months old to give birth to her child on May 14, 1939. To be specific, Lina Medina's parents thought their 5-year-old daughter had a huge abdominal tumor and when her father carried her to a hospital.

Hilda Trujillo, age 9

Hilda Trujillo was third youngest mother to give birth at the age of nine. In November when Hilda came the Maternity Hospital of Obstetrician Rolando Colareta, she was checked by a team of 16 obstetricians, gland specialists, radiologists, psychiatrists and general practitioners. After one month on December 1957, she gave birth to a baby girl. Her 22 year old cousin was arrested for rape.

Wanwisa Janmuk, age 9
