A Chinese farmer has built a house - complete with a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom - at the top of a 50ft tree.
Xiong Yuhu, 63, of Xingping village, Yaojiang County, Hunan Province, says he was inspired by the Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing.
"The Bird's Nest Stadium looks like a bird's nest on the ground. I just thought why not build a real bird's nest in a tree," he said.
The house, which sits atop a jujube tree and is connected to the ground by a long wooden staircase, has cost him about £3,000 so far.
The bathroom features a toilet and a shower, supplied by a water tank on the roof. It also has a fully functioning kitchen, a bedroom, and a lounge complete with a television.
Xiong says his treehouse is very safe and once contained as many as 18 adult visitors at the same time.
His wife Wang Su'an refuses to enter the house as she is scared of heights - but says her husband loves it
"He usually climbs up after breakfast, sometimes before, and only comes down for his lunch and dinner. Most days he stays up there until I shout him to come down at midnight."
Xiong says that the treehouse, in the backyard of the family's regular house which is surrounded by a vast bamboo forest, is still not finished.
"I plan to build a terrace outside the door. On the terrace, I'll set up a board with soil, planting some vegetables. And I also need to have some inner decorations," said Xiong.
