A cross-eyed opossum which has become famous worldwide for her unusual looks is now to become a TV soap star.
Heidi, who has more than 325,000 followers on Facebook, will play herself in hit German show Dr Mertens: Vet.
Early plot leaks from public broadcaster ARD indicated that Heidi would be involved in a plot about her undergoing radical pioneering surgery to correct her sight.
But programme-makers have assured fans that Heidi will film all her scenes in her enclosure at Leipzig Zoo, Germany.
One source on the show said: "She is playing herself and all her scenes will be filmed at her zoo so she isn't disturbed too much by the process. But if it goes well, she could join the cast for a much longer run."
Heidi became a massive star when pictures of her oddball looks began to appear around the world.
Earlier this year she helped host an Oscars show on a live TV link to the USA and successfully tipped three out of four Academy Awards.
One keeper said: "She is a natural performer but she never leaves her enclosure so she'll always keep her feet on the ground."
