Cops are hunting thieves in Lueneburg, Germany, who stole the wheels from a Zimmer frame while the elderly owner visited a friend.
Doris Schultz, 89, had stopped by to visit her pal for a coffee and left the walking frame padlocked to the gate outside the block of flats.
A police spokesman said: "The wheels cost the elderly lady 100 euros to replace - the thieves had stolen the brakes as well. It was a pointless crime as the stolen items will be useless on anything else than another Zimmer frame."
Police gave the pensioner a lift home and helped her to get an old Zimmer frame working again, while her new one was being repaired.
